Small Cell
Use Case
Large campuses often have areas where people regularly congregate, whether it’s a cafeteria, lecture hall, or hallways. Mobile phone users in these areas usually experience connectivity issues caused by coverage and capacity issues where the network is unable to accommodate the large influx of data traffic occurring. In these cases, a small cell network may just be the ideal solution.
Solution
We can think of small cells as expanding the cellular network coverage area by installing small, low-powered antennas throughout an area. These antennas act as an “access point” and are installed in high-density areas, providing localized cellular coverage. The targeting of these areas allows for an overall improvement of the wireless user experience.

These antennas are usually installed on existing infrastructure, e.g., streetlights, utility poles, or ceilings, and are designed to be discreet. They are connected to a signal source, such as a carrier’s Network Operations Center (NOC), by way of fiber optic cables

Intelibs has successfully completed over 100 small cell projects across various industries, providing tailored solutions for both indoor and outdoor environments. As experts in cellular connectivity technologies, Intelibs leverages its experience to design and deploy small cell systems that enhance cellular by expanding network coverage and increasing network capacity.

As a certified integrator of multiple small cell OEM manufacturers, Intelibs can help you identify the best-suited small cell solution according to your property's structure and user capacity demand.
Typical Solution Application

Small Cell Network Architecture

The diagram illustrates how small cells, represented by router-like devices, provide localized wireless coverage. This solution is applicable to a range of environments, such as urban, large campuses, and residential areas.

Each small cell site is connected to a centralized infrastructure that manages the network operations called a NOC. In this case, the backhaul connection is done via an ISP connection.

Small Cell Deployment Site Architecture
